Mudrik, Masbooq and Laahiq
Q. Who is called a mudrik?
A. One who says full prayers from the first rak’ah to the last behind the imaam is called a mudrik.
Q. Who is a masbooq?
A. Masbooq is one who has missed one or more rak’aat before he joined the jamaa’at behind the imaam.
Q. Who is called laahiq?
A. Laahiq is one who joined the jamaa’at in the beginning, and later missed one or more rak’aat. Example: one fell asleep and missed rak’aat while imaam continued.
Q. How should a masbooq say missed rak’aat?
A. Continue with the imaam. When imaam turns for salaam, stand up and complete missed rak’aat as if starting fresh.
Example instructions for 1–2 rak’aat in Zuhr, Asr, Ishaa, Fajr, and Maghrib provided above.
Q. What if masbooq stands up and imaam does Sajdah Sahw?
A. He should join in Sajdah Sahw with the imaam.
Q. If masbooq mistakenly turns for salaam with imaam?
A. If with or before imaam → no Sajdah Sahw; if after imaam → waajib to do Sajdah Sahw after completing prayer.
Q. How should laahiq complete missed rak’aat?
A. Say missed rak’aat separately, without qiraa’ah, join imaam for remaining prayer if ongoing. If imaam has finished, complete remaining rak’aat as if behind imaam. Mistakes do not require Sajdah Sahw for muqtadi alone.
